With a northwesterly flow kicking in for the end of the weekend on Sunday, we will keep the chance of snow showers in the forecast with high temperatures warming into the low to mid 30s by Sunday afternoon. Winds will gust as high as 20 to 25 miles an hour, sending our wind chills into the 20s by Sunday afternoon.
By Saturday evening, the main round of rain and mixed precipitation will begin to move out of the state. Behind the system, much colder air will rush in statewide, and clouds will lower. As temperatures fall, snow showers and flurries are expected to develop, becoming more common Saturday night.
A flood watch and winter storm warning are in effect this weekend as the first major storm of 2026 is expected to bring rain and snow across Northern California.
After a brief pause, the La Niña winter weather pattern is back and is expected to bring cold air to the Northern Tier and possible snow and rain along the East Coast.
